Fred Provencher served as the founder and ever enthusiastic and affirming leader of Huntington Beach Reads One Book from its inception 16 years ago. He dedicated countless hours to bringing Huntington Beach community members together to read, think, discuss, and act. Fred cared deeply about treating everyone he met with kindness and respect. He lived the mission of HB Reads – to increase understanding of and empathy toward others while creating true community.

This year will be one of doubling down in honor of Fred Provencher! HB Reads was in his mind and on his heart always. We look forward to celebrating this special human being throughout the 2023-2024 HB Reads season.
